2007 Design Awards Competition

NEWH Las Vegas encourages all designers, architects, builders and general contractors to enter the 4th annual NEWH Las Vegas HOSPY (Hospitality) Awards competition. The awards recognize deserving individuals and firms in the hospitality industry for extraordinary achievements in architecture, design and development.

Eligibility for Entries

For Southern Nevada Firms: Any new construction project or renovation completed anywhere in the world between January 1, 2005 and June 30, 2007 is eligible for submission.
For Firms Outside Southern Nevada: If you have completed new construction or a renovation in Southern Nevada during the above timeline, your firm is eligible for submission.

Entry Fees

$100.00 for the first project and $75.00 for each additional project.

Entry Submissions

Note: Each entry will receive a number which must be included on all entry materials in the submission binder. Submitted materials (such as description, images, and floor plans) cannot include the name or location of the project or the entry will be disqualified.

Required submission materials for each entry:

  • One-page typed description of the project including a summary of principal features, design intent, challenges, resources, budget, and date of construction or renovation.
  • Typed list of contributing professionals and vendors
  • Five images that best represents your project.
  • Floor Plan of The Property
  • CD containing (A) word document of description, (B) word document of list of contributing professionals and vendors and (C) Five images, 300 dpi or higher resolution
  • Presentation board of the project to be displayed the HOSPY Awards event as follows: 24" x 36" x 1/4" white foam core. The Board may be creatively designed, but MUST include (A) at least two photographs of the project, (B) Firm identification and project name and (C) the phrase "2007 HOSPY Awards" in 48pt. Arial type located in the top right hand corner of the board. Display Boards that do not meet these requirements will not be displayed at the HOSPY Awards.
  • Entry packages must be submitted by Friday, September 28, 2007 to the following address: Durette Candito Design Studio, 1007 S Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. If you are submitting for more than one category be sure to submit one binder, CD, and board per entry.

Entry Process

  • Entrants should e-mail durette@durettecanditodesign.com or fax 702-368-2106 to arrange for delivery of enrty packets. Full payment is required with submission of entry.
  • Binder should be submitted by 5p.m. Friday September 28, 2007

Judging Process

  • A special panel of distinguished judges from across the country will visit Las Vegas in October to participate in the 2007 NEWH Awards Competition and evaluate the entries.

Awards Event

The 2007 HOSPY Awards will be presented during a dinner gala on November 3, 2007 at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort & Casino. Five finalists will be recognized in each category and a winner in each category will be announced that evening. Included with purchase of HOSPY tickets, two guests from each submitting firm will be invited to the VIP Reception prior to the HOSPY Awards.
