NEWH College of Fellows nomination

Fellowship is bestowed on NEWH members who have made notable contributions to the hospitality industry, not only through their work, but through their demonstrated commitment to NEWH.

The next nomination cycle will open Summer 2027, with Fellows inducted at the 2028 NEWH Leadership Conference.

Purpose

The application process is held every other year and is conducted by the Chair of the College of Fellows together with a jury of selected members of the College.

Up to five members are selected each cycle. Fellows are formally inducted at the biennial NEWH Leadership Conference.

Criteria and eligibility

To be considered for Fellowship, a nominee must:

  • Be a current NEWH member in good standing with 10 consecutive years or more of membership
  • Exhibit the highest level of ethical conduct and professionalism in the hospitality industry. Examples must be included in the nomination form, along with a minimum of three letters of reference from NEWH members in good standing endorsing the nomination, and two additional references from hospitality industry professionals
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills
  • Have contributed to mentoring at least two individuals in the hospitality industry

A Fellowship nomination can be made by a Chapter Board, by a NEWH member, or as a self-nomination.

Submission guidelines

Nominations are submitted through the online Nomination Form, structured in three sections.

Section 1

Introduction

Profile: nominee and nominating member information

Fellowship nominations can be made by a Chapter Board, by a NEWH member, or as a self-nomination. The Nominator, meaning the individual responsible for coordinating and submitting the online nomination materials, must be a NEWH member in good standing. In the case of a Chapter Board nomination, the Chapter Board will select one board member to serve as the contact person.

Statement of achievement

The Statement of Achievement is limited to 200 words on one page and must include a list of the nominee's accomplishments demonstrating achievements at the national or international level within the hospitality industry. The list should validate the contributions the nominee has made to NEWH and to the hospitality industry.

Section 2

Documentation of career and personal accomplishments

Part A: involvement with NEWH, Inc.

The nominee must include five ways they have had a leading role in advancing the mission of NEWH, such as education and mentoring, along with any leadership roles held at the chapter level or the international level.

Part B: service and volunteerism

The nominee must include a bulleted list of volunteer contributions and philanthropic participation outside of NEWH.

Part C: recognition

The nominee must include a bulleted list of significant awards, honors, and recognition received throughout their career.

Section 3

References

Include three letters of reference from NEWH members in good standing endorsing the nomination, and two additional references from hospitality industry professionals.
