“Artistic Workshop: History of Mosaic”

Description:
From prehistoric Mesopotamian temples to the walls of a trendy 21st century Hotel, the enduring beauty of mosaic has withstood the test of time and will surely continue to do so for years to come. During this workshop the designer will be able to:

  • Refresh the historical knowledge behind Mosaic Art
  • Understand the various techniques used in producing artistic mosaic pieces
  • Know how the actual mosaic is prepared
  • Recognize a space and what mosaic technique could be used to maximize the effect, control the cost and facilitate the installation

Presenter Information:
Raffaella Salata is a Senior Designer at Trend Group USA. She has been working in the glass mosaic industry since 2003, taking care of all different kinds of projects worldwide, from small residential swimming pools to the façades of several famous hotels. Her deep knowledge of artistic techniques and design combined with her experience in the field, allow her to understand every single project with a different perspective and meet the designer needs and job challenges with various solutions, always promoting the beauty and elegance of glass mosaics. During the presentation, Raffaella will be joined by Alice Alvisi, A&D Promoter and project referent here in New York.
