Welcome 2019
Dear Friends, Colleagues, and NEWH Members, Welcome to Miami and the NEWH 2019 Leadership Conference! The Leadership Conference & Product Showcase provides us with the opportunity to expand our minds, connect with our peers and industry professionals, and bring pertinent information and practices to our work environment. The ever-popular Product Showcase has become a cornerstone event for NEWH. This tradeshow, prior to the conference, will join industry professionals as we “Chart Your Course” for our time together in Miami. Our keynote speakers, David and Jonah Stillman, will set us on the journey for our future with an introduction of Gen Z and how to navigate the generational divides in our workplace and beyond. Keynote speaker Nirvan Mullick will share the power of storytelling, how to turn stories into impact, and the importance of creativity in fostering a culture of innovation and joy. Beyond our extraordinary keynote speakers, our relevant sessions, roundtable discussions, dynamic speakers, and workshops will deliver the opportunity to fine tune skillsets and expand your knowledge base. As the preeminent hospitality industry nonprofit organization, NEWH is the networking resource for industry members. The mission of NEWH is education, scholarship, and connecting people so we can build upon and strengthen the future of the hospitality industry. Our focus has always been, and remains, to raise funds needed for bright and deserving students who wish to enter the exciting field of hospitality. On behalf of the entire NEWH organization, we would like to extend a thank you and our sincere appreciation to our host chapter, NEWH South Florida and to the many conference sponsors, Corporate Partners, speakers, and attendees. Composing Your World 2017
As a classical violinist turned innovative composer, Kai Kight uses music as a metaphor to inspire individuals and organizations across the world to compose paths of imagination and fulfillment. Inspired by his own mother who, when diagnosed with cancer, revealed regrets of not bringing her ideas to the world, Kai is on a mission to spark a global mindset shift in which ingenuity is the norm, not the exception. In his emotionally powerful presentations, Kai performs mesmerizing original music and vulnerably shares stories from his own transformation as an artist. Kai translates these insights into takeaways that audiences can easily infuse into their own lives and work environments. A product of Stanford University’s design and engineering program, the d. School, Kai remains fascinated by the leaders, artists, and companies who dare to be different. As both a Mayfield Fellow and Kleiner Perkins Design Fellow, Kai has proven himself as a leader of the next generation of innovative and entrepreneurial talent. As a musician, Kai has performed his original music for thousands in venues across the world, from the White House to the Great Wall of China. As a speaker, he has created impactful experiences for audiences at conferences, companies, and universities internationally. Some of his clients include The Walt Disney Company, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the Super-bowl winning Seattle Seahawks. His mesmerizing and original violin performance beautifully becomes a sonic metaphor for the core of his message: to inspire people to compose unique ideas in a world that celebrates conformity.
