Dixie Nordstrom passed away on May 25, 2017. Dixie was honored by the Los Angeles Founding Chapter of NEWH with the prestigious Woman Of Excellence award in 1999.  She served the organization in several capacities including Vice President of Scholarship and Education for 5 years.  Executive Vice President for 3 years and Chair of Programming for 2 years. Her most famous contributions to NEWH were the fabulous Broadway-Hollywood Gala Shows which she produced.

She created a 50 year plus career in Hospitality Design as a distinguished Interior Designer in the Hospitality Industry.  Her career started at the Albert Parvin Co. in Los Angeles, where she worked on glamorous projects located in Las Vegas, Chicago, San Francisco and other locations.  At Innkeepers Supply in Hollywood, she was part of the team that designed Holiday Inn properties nationwide.  In her own business, DNN Design, she worked almost exclusively on Hyatt Hotel properties and other notable installations.  Dixie retired in 1995, but couldn’t stay away from the design world. She came out of retirement to work with the Griffin Group at Merv Griffin’s Beverly Hilton Hotel. She participated in the design of various Griffin owned properties.  As she often said, “It was like a dream.”
