1. How/why did you become involved in NEWH NW? Joining NEWH was recommended by a colleague when I was starting into more of a business development role at my company. I actually attended a board meeting before I went to any events or programs. I was greeted by an intelligent, enthusiastic and fun group of people on the NEWH board and agreed to take on the programming position because of my background in event planning. I’ve never looked back!

2. What are some of your favorite hotels, restaurants, and spaces in the Pacific Northwest? I have so many favorite places to eat, sleep and play in the PacNor! Some of my favorite spots for dining happen to have an Asian influence Stateside, which was designed by my old friend and former colleague Callie Meyer, Revel in Fremont which has been open a few years but continues to delight me on every visit. London Plane in Pioneer Square. We are lucky to have some incredible restaurateurs here in Seattle and lots of tiny restaurants that do their own unique thing when it comes to food.

As far as hotels go, when I have clients or friends visiting I recommend the Max or the Monaco. Of course, the Ace hotel in Seattle changed hospitality design forever, though my favorite Ace is in Palm Springs. In Portland, my absolute favorite is Hotel Deluxe – it’s just about the only hotel in the world I am loyal to. I stay there every visit. I think it’s really their adorable cocktail bar, The Driftwood Room, that does it for me. That and their outstanding hospitality and attention to detail.

3. What is the last book you read? I am reading a fascinating book right now called Color: A Natural History of the Palette by Victoria Finlay. It traces back the origin of different natural pigments and colors as well as their meanings / significance throughout history and geography. It is a great read and I highly recommend for anyone who likes a good story.
