DESCRIPTION: This presentation provides an overview of sustainable materials for the bath, including production, performance, maintenance, and frameworks for assessment, and focuses on recycled copper, sustainably made concrete, FSC ®-certified bamboo, and reclaimed wood At the end of this program, participants will be able to 1) discuss the triple bottom line accounting framework as a method of measuring sustainable practices in terms of their economic, environmental, and social impact; 2) define sustainable materials in terms of their durable, recycled, recyclable, rapidly renewable, reclaimed, and environmental and energy-efficient production process characteristics; 3) name the sustainable aspects of recycled copper, glass, sustainably made concrete, FSC ®-certified wood, and reclaimed wood; 4) describe the production processes for recycled copper sinks and tubs, spun-glass sinks, sustainably made concrete sinks and tubs, and reclaimed wood bath furniture, and 5) explain the performance benefits and care of bath fixtures and furniture made of these materials.
