Jamie Stern Furniture, Carpet & Leather Launches 4th Annual Rug Design Contest for Interior Designers and Architects
NEW YORK, N.Y. (Sept. 1, 2023) — Jamie Stern Furniture, Carpet & Leather is excited to announce their 4th Annual Rug Design Contest. Beginning September 1st, Jamie Stern is calling on all interior designers to submit an original design for the chance to win a custom wool rug.
For three years running, the month-long competition garnered more designer submissions than each previous year. With this increase in quantity, also came a greater expansion of design styles. Jamie Stern received a wide array of incredible entries that featured ornate geometric tessellations, abstract figures, simple and elegant patterns, fierce animal prints, designs with personal meaning behind them and more. These designs were created in Photoshop, painted, sketched with a pencil, done in charcoal, etc.
For the 4th Annual Jamie Stern Rug Design Contest, a Grand Prize Winner from each of the four regions – Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and West – will be selected by an all-new panel of esteemed judges from the interior design community. These winners will have their designs come to life as beautiful area rugs made of 100% New Zealand wool. Additionally, two runners-up from each region will be selected and receive a 3×5 mini-rug of their design.
Lisa Patusky of FCArchitects, one of 2022’s runners-up, described the competition as “a great opportunity to think outside of the box of the typical rugs I had been seeing and specifying. Working with my Jamie Stern rep was a ton of fun. Looking through the pom box and talking through options like loop or tip shear for finishing. I learned so much and now have a beautifully crafted rug!”
This year’s judges include: Vanessa Redman, the Creative Director for Wimberly Interiors, Jennifer Daniels, a Director and Senior Associate at Meyer Davis, and Denise Gatica, a Senior Interior Designer at INK+ORO.
