CEU Title: “Understanding Upholstery Leather”

CEU Description:
During the 60 minute class, attendees will learn common terminology used in the leather industry, how to identify different types of leather and appropriate applications for each leather type. Recognize natural markings vs defects often found on leather and gain a better understanding of hide sizes and cutting yields. We will also discuss creative and unique design techniques that can be used with leather.
This is an interactive CEU where attendees will be encouraged to actively participate and ask questions.

Presenters:
Lucia Portali Waters – Manhattan Sales Executive/Lucia started working with leather way back during her high school years. She fell in love with leather and continued with leather after college in the fashion industry in NYC. She is very passionate about leather and has comprehensive knowledge of many aspects of the leather industry. She also ran her own art and design business and has extensive experience working with designers, architects throughout the hospitality and design community. Lucia has a strong work ethic and committed to meeting the needs of her clients. She is also a current board member of NEWH.

Max Brown – President of Garrett Leather Corp Max always had plenty of good advice from his father, Cameron Brown, who started the business in the attic of his house in 1988. As a child Max swept the floors of Garrett Leather Corp. I guess it is safe to say he learned this business from the ground up. He then worked after school and holidays taping and shipping boxes. He began his professional career telemarketing to new clients during the 2008 financial crisis. After college and before he became President, Max managed the Sampling Dept and led the sales team as VP of Sales.
