For those who need to stay at the forefront of sustainable design, NEXT Generation Green Building will cover trends that are influencing the green building movement and what they will mean for the next generation of projects. Roxane Spears, Vice President, Sustainability, Tarkett North America, will review tools to help evaluate material health and the rating systems that are using them, as well as strategies to create actively beneficial spaces for learning, working, healing and living.

Course Objectives:
• Discuss green building design trends centered around occupants and performance.
• Discuss emerging tools for communication and performance evaluation.
• Review green building system updates and new systems gaining momentum
• Address the necessary balance in relationship between people and the environment.

Presenter Biography:
As the Sustainability Product Manager for Tarkett, Rachel facilitates the implementation of healthy materials, product certifications, and related processes. Her ten years of experience include achieving Cradle to Cradle v4 Certification and launching the first commercial shade cloth without flame retardants. Rachel’s industry engagement includes Chairing the Mindful Materials Manufacturing Engagement Group and holding the position of National Green Voice Chair at NEWH. She holds a master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management and lives in Long Island City, NY with her husband, two children, and dog.
