Personal Statement
I am a graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts in Interior Architecture & Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. My focus is on hospitality and experiential spaces, where I explore how design can enhance atmosphere, reflect culture, and create lasting impressions. I’m currently developing my skills in space planning, concept development, and construction documentation, while gaining hands-on experience through studio projects and industry collaborations. With a background in finance and hospitality development, I bring a unique perspective that blends creativity with strategic thinking. I’m passionate about designing spaces that are both inspiring and functional, with a deep respect for culture, sustainability, and user experience.
While I have not yet worked in a professional interior design firm, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in a Student Design Charette with IIDA, a one-day collaborative design challenge that pushed the limits of creativity, adaptability, and teamwork under tight deadlines. This experience helped me strengthen my design thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative skills in a fast-paced environment.
In addition, I bring professional experience from my previous work in finance, where I worked with international companies and cross-functional teams. These roles taught me how to communicate effectively, manage complex projects, and contribute to a team-driven environment—skills that I now apply to my growing career in interior design.
