Hi! Iām Tara Hunt and Iām a recovering marketing strategist training to be an interior designer (graduating Spring 2025).
I spent over 22 years in marketing, building a pretty successful career. You may ask, āHow successful could it be since I decided to quit?ā Here are a few highlights:
I wrote one of the first books on how social media was changing business (published in 7 languages)
I spoke at over 200 conferences around the world on the topic of marketing
I appeared in dozens of articles and features in well-known publications as an expert on the subject
I ran a successful boutique agency with dozens of employees and big clients like Nokia, Bell Labs, and the Canadian Real Estate Association
I had an influential YouTube channel, Twitter Feed, and LinkedIn profile, and
I won multiple awards and distinctions, including being named one of the Most Influential Women in Technology in Fast Company.
However, as time went on, I started to really fall out of love with what I was doing. Why? Social media had become a source of stress, not connection and joy; artificial intelligence was/is going to render content agencies like mine moot; and I wasnāt getting any younger. So, in 2021, when the whole world was in a kerfuffle, I decided to make the ultimate change.
I shut down my agency and applied to university (for a second time) to take a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. Iām due to graduate Spring of 2025 but Iām sharing my progress here as I go along.
Iām very much loving my new chosen vocation and look forward to applying the knowledge gained in the past four years to a new career.
If you want to connect, give feedback, ask questions, or anything else, Iām interested in hearing from you!
