In 1908, Edwin Toms and George Price combined their resources and expertise to open the first Toms-Price furniture store on Wabash Avenue in downtown Chicago. The shop specialized in furniture handmade by local craftsmen. Each home delivery was painstakingly done by horse and wagon. In 1940, Mr. Toms retired leaving the operation of the company to the Price family.

In 1955, second generation Edward Price assumed management for the company and moved the store to the historic Grover House in Wheaton, IL. At that time, we provided customers with the best in Colonial and traditional furniture styles. Many additions and renovations to this location were completed over the years. In 1997, third generation David Price opened a dramatic second store in Lincolnshire. With this expansion, we branched out to provide a widely diverse selection of furniture styles, as well as rugs and decorative accessories.

Over the years, Toms Price Home has put an increased emphasis on an interior design services – including lighting, window treatments, wall coverings, indoor and outdoor furniture and fine rugs and carpeting. Fourth generation son Scott Price joined the company in 2003 and helped to open additional Toms Price Home stores in Bloomingdale, Skokie and South Barrington. In 2022, Toms Price Home opened a new flagship store in Oak Brook, just north of the Oak Brook Center Shopping Mall. Toms Price Home returned to Chicago in 2023 and opened a store in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on Clybourn Ave. With furniture from over one hundred top-of-the-line manufacturers, each Toms Price Home store also offers a premium rug studio and a luxury mattress department.
