Lowcountry Originals seeks a Product Design Engineer who is passionate about lighting, accessories and furniture – and someone who wants to be a part of building the best art company in the world. The Product Design Engineer will spearhead Wendover/Lowcountry Originals design, development and integration of lighting, accessories and furniture programs and will also support in the design and creation of custom, dimensional – commercial installations. The Product Design Engineer will work closely with the Product Development Team to manage projects from client definition to high volume production. The Product Design Engineer will be directly responsible for 2D CAD/Solid works drawing, 3D parametric modeling, prototyping, bill of material creation, mechanical design, program management and quality control. The Product Design Engineer will also work closely with the Director of Manufacturing and Product & Quality Manager to build workflows and document SOPs for all development and production-based processes.
Wendover/Lowcountry Originals is looking to hire a Product Design Engineer who has a passion for creating and wants to hone their skills program development and implementation at scale. The Product Design Engineer will operate in an environment where each day is different than the next due to the fast pace and simultaneous management of multiple projects. The Product Design Engineer will work with a multitude of internal and external constituents and must be able to accurately interpret creative direction to achieve a desired aesthetic in an efficient manner. The Product Design Engineer must have an interest in growing their technical design knowledge in both theory and practical application.

Key Responsibilities
- Program Management
- Develop and manage programs for all new product development and artwork product launches
- Create program scope, timelines and deliverables through product launch and volume production
- Collaborate with Creative and Production teams to track developmental capital and labor expenditures
- Provide hands on guidance and maintain direct oversight of CAD/Solid works programming and production team
- Design quality assurance systems and processes to maintain pre-determined tolerance levels
- Prototyping and Design
- Create product designs per customer specifications and budget
- Design 3D CAD drawings and industrial design renderings for client review
- Supervise prototype manufacturing and assembly to ensure quality control
- Document production process including materials utilized, issues encountered, and additional investment needed to achieve production at scale
- Work with Quotation and Creative team to price product and identify opportunities for intelligent design and value engineering
- Research of references as well as finish and materials to help articulate concepts
- Creation of drawings (CAD, hand sketching) of product (furniture, lighting, accessories and related) for design packages
- Creation of design packages containing dimension specifications, artwork and concept references to be forwarded to vendors and makers
- Assist in design development and project communication with vendors, manufacturers, licensee’s and Lowcountry Originals team to ensure concepts are understood, key deadlines met and that each design is on-brand; management of project/product tracking documents
- Responsible for managing the archiving system for above packages including concepts and product information
- Help define aesthetic direction through research, creation of inspiration boards and sketching
- Assist in preparation for internal presentations, as needed

What Else Do We Look For?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Technical Design, Engineering, or similarly related field
- 2+ years of experience in an industrial / manufacturing design focused role
- Proficiency in CAD and/or Solid works
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, notably Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop is a plus
- Comfort with technical troubleshooting on industrial equipment and requisite software
- Ability to solve problems with imperfect information and ambiguity
- Ability to employ creative and innovative thought processes while maintaining practicality
- A commitment to excellence and a passion for doing things right all the time
- Strong time management skills and ability to work under multiple competing deadlines
- Ability to prioritize and manage a consistently heavy workload with precision
- Ability and willingness to learn the production process and understand the Product Design Engineer’s impact on Company profitability
- Expert in email management
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required
